Following the success of the first Youth Climate Summit hosted by The Harley School in December 2015, students from public, private, parochial, and home school settings continue to come together to discuss the impact climate change will have on their lives, demand meaningful climate mitigation and adaptation policies from adults in power, and educate their peers on a wide range of issues connected to the climate crisis and environmental sustainability.
Our members have been instrumental in helping pass the plastic bag ban in NYS, continue to exert pressure on the NYS Teacher Retirement System to divest its holdings from fossil fuels, and have participated as members of the Monroe County Climate Action Plan Advisory Committee. We have rallied, marched, petitioned, and spoken on behalf of youth to share the message that climate change is here, it is real, humans caused it, and humans can solve it, if we work together.
We always welcome new members to RYCL! Bring a friend!
Regular meetings will be at Equal Grounds, 750 South Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.
Next Events/Meetings:
